Image Resizer
Resize images by fit-inside, exact pixels or percentage, with aspect ratio lock. Works on JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF, locally in your browser.
Processed locally in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
What this tool does
Image Resizer changes the pixel dimensions of your pictures. Use "Fit inside" when you only care about a maximum size (for example, at most 1600 pixels wide), "Exact size" when a form or template needs precise dimensions, and "Percentage" to scale everything by the same factor. Each mode works on a single image or a batch.
Making an image smaller reduces file size and keeps it sharp when done with good resampling. This tool uses the browser's high-quality scaling and, for large reductions, scales in several steps, which avoids the jagged look of one huge jump. Making an image larger cannot add detail; it only stretches pixels. For that reason enlarging is off by default and must be turned on explicitly.
With the aspect ratio lock on, changing one side updates the other from the first image's proportions. In batches, each image keeps its own ratio. Rotation stored in EXIF is applied before resizing so portrait photos stay upright. The files are processed locally, with no upload.
How to use it
- 1Add your images.
- 2Choose a mode: Fit inside, Exact size, or Percentage.
- 3Enter the dimensions or scale. Keep the aspect ratio lock on unless you want to stretch the image.
- 4Optionally pick an output format and quality. "Same as input" keeps the format.
- 5Press Resize and review the results.
- 6Download each image or all of them as a ZIP.
Supported formats
Input: JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF (where decodable). Output: the same format, or JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF where your browser can encode it.
Privacy
This tool runs in your browser. The data you provide is processed on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Limitations
- Enlarging does not add detail and is disabled unless you allow it. Without it, an image is never made larger than the original.
- Disabling the aspect lock with Exact size stretches the picture.
- Resized lossy formats are re-encoded, which costs a little quality; use a high quality value to limit that.
- Maximum output size is 20,000 px on a side and about 100 megapixels, due to browser memory limits.
- Metadata, colour profiles and animation are not preserved.
FAQ
What is the difference between Fit inside and Exact size?
Fit inside shrinks an image so it fits within a maximum width and/or height while keeping its proportions. Exact size sets the output dimensions directly; with the aspect lock on, one side is calculated from the other.
Why won't it make my image bigger?
Enlarging only interpolates existing pixels and makes the file heavier without adding detail. Turn on "Allow enlarging" if you need it anyway, for example to match a required size.
Does resizing change the file size?
Usually, fewer pixels mean a smaller file, but the final size also depends on the format and quality. The tool displays the real before and after sizes.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are processed locally in your browser.
