Split PDF
Split a PDF into separate files: one per page, every N pages, or by custom page ranges. Download them as a ZIP.
Processed locally in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
What this tool does
Split PDF breaks one document into several smaller ones. Choose one file per page, a new file every N pages, or write your own ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8- to create exactly the parts you need. Useful for separating chapters, sending only the relevant pages of a long document, or pulling apart a scanned batch of single-page forms.
Splitting is done in your browser. The PDF is read locally, each part is built from the selected pages in a background worker, and when there is more than one part they are packed into a single ZIP archive for download. Nothing is uploaded.
In custom-range mode every comma-separated range becomes its own file, so overlapping ranges are allowed and produce overlapping parts. If you want the chosen pages combined into one file instead, use Extract PDF Pages.
How to use it
- 1Add the PDF you want to split.
- 2Pick a mode: every page, every N pages, or custom ranges.
- 3For custom ranges type pages like 1-3, 5, 8- (8- means page 8 to the end). The tool tells you how many files will be created or what is wrong with the input.
- 4Press Split PDF and wait for the progress bar.
- 5Download the ZIP (or the single PDF if only one file was produced).
Supported formats
Input: one PDF (.pdf), password-free. Output: PDF files, delivered as a ZIP when there are several.
Privacy
This tool runs in your browser. The data you provide is processed on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Limitations
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
- Bookmarks, form fields and links to other pages are not kept in the parts; only page content is copied.
- Splitting a very long document into hundreds of files needs enough free memory; on phones try fewer, larger parts.
- File names inside the ZIP are generated from the original name and page numbers.
FAQ
What does 8- mean in the range box?
A trailing dash means 'to the last page', so 8- is page 8 through the end. Similarly -4 means pages 1 to 4.
Can ranges overlap?
Yes. Each range becomes its own file, so 1-4, 3-6 creates two files that both contain pages 3 and 4.
Is the text still selectable in the parts?
Yes. Pages are copied without re-rendering, so text, fonts and images stay as they were.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Reading, splitting and zipping all happen in your browser.
